Jam 4 Dan — remembering his sweet guitar!

__________________________ January, 2018

Musicians, music-lovers, guitar players, and all folks primed for a special weekend celebration, are invited to the 11th Annual “Jam 4 Dan” Benefit and Memorial event at The Celtic Fox Irish Pub & Restaurant, downtown Topeka, January 12th-14th.
This is in honor of Dan Falley, a beloved rock musician who had passed away after a tragic automobile accident in early 2008. He had been active in the local music scene since 1969. In his latter years, he owned a guitar shop on South Kansas Avenue. He repaired guitars, built guitars. He gave guitar lessons.
All the while Dan continued being a noted player in local music venues, and was a leader in Sunday night jam sessions at The Celtic Fox.
Folks remember his personality, his charisma, and how he played a sweet guitar.
How the tradition began
The first ever “Jam 4 Dan” was held in January 2008, as an event organized to help Dan’s family meet financial obligations after his passing. ‘Twas an emotional event, as friends, family and fans, among local musicians gathered to celebrate his life and inspiration.
It turned out to be such a success that the organizers decided to make it an annual tradition, to celebrate Dan’s legacy, and to celebrate music, and local musicians who present it. And in addition, to support young musicians.
They formed a scholarship fund for guitar students 19 or younger, to help pay for their guitar lessons.
Now Jam4Dan is celebrated annually the weekend before Martin Luther King Day. Bands that perform donate their time and talent to contribute to the celebration.
     Talk about magnificent vibes!
