Fellas, if you haven’t asked her out for New Year’s Eve, don’t be shy. Call her and ask to take her out for the holiday. If she already has plans, understandable. Tell her you’ll be thinking of her when the clock strikes midnight.
If she’s available, fabulous! Now you may anticipate that New Year’s kiss, the one where you’re surrounded by noisemakers – of gadgets and humans – and by music, and you turn to each other and kiss to bring in 2011.
It will be a kiss that’ll be remembered for New Years to come – whether or not you remain together, as these kisses tend to be remembered if only for their timing.
So make the surroundings all the more pleasing to recall. One idea: imbibe in that New Year’s kiss while fireworks go off – literally. They’ll be going off at Navy Pier, 600 East Grand. And you have a couple options in which to enjoy them.
Navy Pier New Year’s Eve fireworks:
The midnight fireworks show begins with a countdown. The Ferris Wheel lights are synchronized to the countdown. The fireworks show is accompanied by music.
—You may opt to bundle up and view them while standing on the Pier. Have dinner elsewhere first, then arrive in time for the countdown.
—New Year’s Eve Fireworks Dinner Cruises 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Dockside party till 1 a.m.
Choose among a cruise on the Odyssey, the Spirit of Chicago, or Mystic Blue. Tickets range from $148-$220, not including taxes and fees.
