Watch the bright orange sun descend over the Kansas prairie and savor the country life. Circle S Ranch and Country Inn is less than an hour outside Lawrence Kansas or Topeka and offers a pastoral escape, plus a little luxury.
Pastoral escape – Circle S Ranch
Hustle-and-bustle exists elsewhere. You arrive at this 500 acre property and have at your heels a vast prairie plush with winding trails, creeks and ponds, and oak trees that are over 100 years old and up to 80-feet tall and 70-feet wide.
Wander along gardens, relax in a gazebo, sit on one of the tree swings and stretch your legs to swing beneath the open sky. Behold resident bison and longhorns, and a few peacocks.
Choose among hiking trails. Take a pause to go fishing or to relish in a scenic horseback ride, all within the Circle S private confines. This pastoral ranch has an inn. The inn has a front porch with a rocking chair, where you may bask at the sunset, or afterward gaze at the stars and hear frogs in the distance.
A little luxury – Country Inn
The Circle S Ranch Inn represents an old Kansas barn. It has wood plank floors in some areas, and in others concrete floors to look like old stone.
Guestrooms feature themes. For example, the “Kansas Room” to celebrate Kansas history and tradition. Decor includes a sunflower theme, the state flower, and a copy of “The Wizard of Oz” book. The “Cowboy Room” features Old West decor complete with a log canopy bed and a tin shower with a bucket showerhead. The “Claret Room” showcases burgundy floral decor, a painted wardrobe, a double-sided fireplace and a whirlpool bath.
The Circle S Ranch Country Inn offers spa services, like “Gravel Road Massage,” “Rolling Hills” Hot Stone Massage, facials and aromatherapy treatments.
Every reservation includes a Country Breakfast, with comfort food like fruit granola yogurt, biscuits and gravy, cheesy scrambled eggs with bacon or sausage, french toast or pancakes, and country potatoes or hash browns.
All this within the Country Inn haven, behind that has a front porch where you may watch the sunset, or if you are the morning type lean out a bit to watch it rise over the prairie.
Take luxury to the prairie
The Circle S Ranch chef, Jason Coen who prepares the Country Breakfasts and wedding event meals, may also prepare a picnic lunch with wine for hiking, fishing or horseback riding excursions. Simply make arrangements in advance.
