Love original art, and take a ‘Gallery visits’ excursion

Take an excursion to check out original art. Roughly an hour south of Kansas City lie two REFLECTIONS art galleries that feature work by local artists. The galleries are partners with the Miami County Arts Coalition. and feature scheduled, curated exhibits.
     
They are located in Paola and Louisburg, Kansas. Paola is located off US Highway 169, and Louisburg is located off US Highway 69.

"Wine With Lunch"

     This is in conjunction with the Heartland Art Guild. The showing features oil on canvas and acrylic on canvas paintings by 10 area artists. Each artist indeed has a distinct style. Portraits on display include scenery, fun patterns and moods, still lifes, and a portrait of a veteran local artist.
     
The portraits are displayed throughout a long hallway. At one end is an electronic display screen that alternates slides of the individual portraits followed by text screens with the artist’s bio and artist’s statement.
     
Use the Medical Center north entrance. In the lobby area is a pottery display featuring pottery by artist Brad Reinking.
Viewing hours:
As this REFLECTIONS Gallery is located in a hospital, it is open 24 hours every day. Of course, folks are asked to use their “library voices” when perusing the art.

     Peruse the works of Linda Gust, local Louisburg artist, and President of the Resurrection Art Guild. Her works on display include garden scenery paintings, photography, and pieces that represent the tools of the artists’ trades.

     The portrait shown on the right emphasizes the tools and artist may use, among them: different style brushes, a palette, palette knife, a razor blade, and a rag.
     
Enter the REMAX office, pass the foyer area and follow a short hallway to the exhibit.
Viewing Hours:
Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 except holidays.

Louisburg is approximately 45 minutes from Kansas City; Paola is approximately an hour. The two cities, and therefore the two REFLECTIONS Galleries, are about 20 minutes apart.
     They make a relaxing getaway, and a chance to view the arts and passions of artists in the area. If you find art you would like to purchase, you may contact the artist directly.
